We’re launching our very first Kickstarter campaign with an RPG supplement titled Blightmoor. The project is now LIVE! Click here to add your support.

A GUNSHOT PIERCES THE FOGGY STREET, and the acrid smell of smokepowder fills the air. A grotesque, mutated form of a human groans as the bullet rips flesh. Undaunted, it lunges forward to continue its pursuit. Where have your travels led you now? What is this place where abominations stalk the streets, metaphysicians manipulate the laws of nature, and chymists create explosive concoctions? Greenish-gray mists smelling of sulfur and iodine swirl around your feet. You are in the Blight, and you cannot leave until you face its creator.

What is Blightmoor?

Blightmoor is a new destination for adventurous and daring heroes – an island nation that fell into shadow when an enterprising young alchemist named Lucretia Mortem took her experiments too far, abandoning the natural boundaries between life and death in her pursuit of creating the perfect species. What started as a quest to eliminate sickness, age, and frailty ended in an all-consuming obsession, marked by the abandonment of moral conscience and a descent into madness and despair. After innumerable discarded lives and forgotten experiments resulting in grotesque mutations, Lucretia remained unsatisfied. Her experiments had given her unnaturally long life. She would give that gift to the world! Determined, she constructed great machines that poured the filth of her inventions into the air around her. Over time, she would see the entire country elevated to a higher species. And thus, the Blight began.

An early-Victorian, Gothic Horror Setting

In the era before it was overcome by the Blight, the island nation of Corhelm had advanced to an early-Victorian level of technology, with many of the familiar trappings and cultural elements you might expect in such a society. Adventurers in the realm can expect to experience smokepowder (the island’s version of gunpowder), clockwork devices, pseudo-medical concoctions and procedures, spiritualism and mysticism, and mutations/aberrations brought about as an effect of the Blight-borne mutagens.

The Blightmoor 5e supplement provides a number of new, fully-developed classes, subclasses, backgrounds, feats, and spells for Game Masters and players to enjoy in their adventures. Here’s a short summary of what to expect (thus far!):

  • One new race: the Blight Mutant. A mutated humanoid that carries aberrations caused by the mutagens in the Blight. Supported by 60 different possible mutations and defects.
  • Eleven new classes and subclasses, including:
    • Fighter subclass: Monster Hunter. A specialist with new abilities dedicated to hunting down and irradicating specific troublesome species.
    • Fighter subclass: Pugilist. An expert in inflicting blunt-force trauma, with fists or bludgeoning weapons, supplied with new fighting “techniques” and abilities to flesh out the class.
    • Clockwork Engineer (it’s about time!). Supported by a fully-developed clockwork engineering system that allows the engineer to create 5 classes of clockwork constructs (tiny, small, medium, large, and superscale), along with dozens of potential clockwork devices and modules.
    • Mesmerist. A professional hypnotist and mind warper who uses illusions and mental manipulation. Powered by a host of new mental manipulations, illusions, and “tricks”.
    • Metaphysician: Blight Doctor. A twist on the Victorian plague doctor concept, this medicine worker creates concoctions that heal and harm. Fueled by a complete “concoction” system that allows for the creation and use of chemical formulas.
    • Metaphysician: Flesh Barber. Manipulator, surgeon, and animator of the flesh. Supported by a fully developed flesh construct system (think flesh golems!).
    • Mystic Savant: Blood Weaver. Practitioner of the ominous and potent art of shaping and using blood. Supported by a completely revamped, dice-pool-based magic system along with dozens of unique powers. This magic system is also used by the Light Wielder and Shadow Forger.
    • Mystic Savant: Light Wielder. Foot soldier and priest of The Order, using radiant (light manipulation) powers to vanquish evil.
    • Mystic Savant: Shadow Forger. Magic user who shapes and weaponizes the shadows themselves.
    • Smokepowder Duelist. Part artisan, part pistoleer. Focused on the creation, modification, and expert use of smokepowder weapons and explosives.
    • Spiritualist. Speaker with the dead, summoner of spirits, and shaper of unseen powers. Backed by new powers that are tied to the spirit world.
  • New Backgrounds (in process)
  • New Feats (in process)
  • New Spells (in process)
  • A new island nation to explore, with unique technologies, organizations, mysteries, and monsters (in process).

Reduced price tiers in lieu of early-bird specials!

We’ve gone live! Go check out the launch page here!

We initially entertained the idea of offering early-bird rewards to the first 100 backers, but rethought our approach. Rather than create “winners and losers”, we decided to reduce the price of each tier through the entire Kickstarter campaign, so every backer is a winner. We hope each pledge tier is priced competitively and affordably, when compared against some of the other projects you may have seen!
